Canning House Essay Competition

Sixth form Spanish student, Helen Gendy (U6T), has received a Commendation for her entry to the Canning House Essay Competition. This prestigious competition challenges students to apply their knowledge of Spanish language and structures to produce a sophisticated piece of persuasive writing. Helen chose to write about crimes committed against young women in Mexico.
Earlier this year, Helen also won The Nigel Freeman-Powell award for Video Production for her entry into a Spanish Film Competition. Helen made her own version of an excerpt from ‘VOLVER’, an evocative exploration into crimes of passion, featuring herself as Penelope Cruz battling a few willing friends in the L6th common room kitchen. The video can be viewed on the KEHS YouTube channel and has already had over 400 hits!
