The A-Level Spanish group hosted their first ever Salsa Evening on Friday the 9th of March. The event was a huge success and raised a staggering £800 for LAFF, the Latin American Foundation for the Future. Guests were encouraged to immerse themselves in Spanish culture and discover a passion for salsa with lessons from a professional teacher. The girls had prepared an array of traditional tapas dishes for guests to sample and organised a raffle, craft stall, wine tasting and piñata.
The Spanish department is very grateful to the girls for all their efforts. Head of the Spanish, Marcia Atkins said: ‘I was so impressed at the amount of time the girls spent preparing for the salsa evening. They put such a lot of effort into publicity and arrangements before the event as well as on the night itself. They truly enjoyed organising this event for LAFF and I hope it can become an annual event.’
The night itself was reflective of a truly Spanish party atmosphere, as it involved people of all ages coming together, having fun and eating! At the end of the night, guests all commented that they had had a great time and thanked the girls for allowing them to sample the delights of salsa.
